The latest news making headlines at Catalina

There was plenty of festive cheer at the Catalina Christmas Mixer as residents came together to celebrate the end of 2017 in the balmy outdoor surrounds of the newly revamped Catalina community garden.

Those who wanted to get their hands dirty dug in to plant over 200 new summer seedlings in the garden, or opted for an upcycled succulent mug as a take home gift. Adult thirsts were quenched when the Kombi Keg rolled in with a range of beers for tasting, while the Quinns Men’s Shed were busy on the grills cooking up a complimentary BBQ dinner. There must have been plenty of kids in Catalina on the ‘nice’ list with Santa popping in a couple of times to take Christmas wishes and family photos.

The Meet, Greet & Eat series saw more than 200 current and future residents along to enjoy free food and activities at various parks across the estate.

The neighbourhood gatherings started at the park on Makassar Way on Saturday 25 March with lawn bowls and live music, before moving onto nature play cubby building at the green space on Aviator Boulevard on 8 April. The finale was a family sports day in the main park on Seeadler Street on 29 April.

A huge thanks to The Rotary Club of Mindarie who joined us on all three weekends with their BBQ trailer and dedicated volunteers!
