To mark International Women’s Day, Satterley was proud to host a special conversation featuring Daisy Pearce and Dani Shuey, two outstanding women whose careers reflect leadership, professionalism and a strong commitment to paving the way for others.
We were fortunate to hear from Daisy Pearce, one of the true pioneers of women’s Australian Rules football. From captaining Melbourne through much of the AFLW era and leading the Demons to their first premiership in 2022, to now guiding the next generation as Senior Coach of the West Coast Eagles AFLW team, Daisy’s journey is a remarkable example of leadership, resilience and commitment to the game. Daisy is also the Ambassador for Seaside Estate.

Guiding the conversation was Dani Shuey, a talented Perth-based broadcaster and media presenter whose career across television, radio and live sport has made her a familiar and respected voice in Australian media. Dani led a thoughtful discussion with Daisy about leadership, high performance and the opportunities ahead for the next generation of women.

Throughout the conversation, Daisy reflected on the experiences that have shaped her career, from the discipline and persistence required to compete at an elite level to the responsibility of leading others through change and growth. Her insights highlighted the importance of resilience, self-belief and remaining committed to long-term progress, even when the path is not always easy.
A key theme of the discussion was leadership. Daisy spoke about the importance of setting standards, bringing others with you and understanding that leadership is not only about performance, but also about consistency, accountability and the ability to support those around you. The conversation also explored how leadership evolves over time, particularly as women continue to break new ground across sport, media and other industries.
Another important focus was opportunity. Dani and Daisy discussed the progress that has been made for women in traditionally male-dominated fields, while also acknowledging the importance of continuing to create pathways for the next generation. Their discussion reinforced the value of visibility, representation and encouragement in helping more women step forward with confidence.
The audience Q&A brought further insight to the session, with questions touching on career development, confidence and navigating setbacks. Daisy shared thoughtful reflections on learning through challenges and staying focused on continual growth, while Dani helped draw out practical and relatable advice for those looking to build their own careers and leadership capability.
There was also a strong message around backing yourself and remaining open to opportunity. Whether in sport, business or media, success often comes from being willing to take on new challenges, continue learning and trust in your own ability to grow.
International Women’s Day is an important opportunity to recognise the achievements of women and to reflect on the work still being done to create greater equality and opportunity. At Satterley, conversations like this are a valuable reminder of the power of leadership, representation and shared experience in helping build stronger workplaces and communities.
