Allara's 2019 Community Events Roundup!

Allara was created so that we can feel good about the way we live.  The community events held during 2019 focussed on a variety of activities that were good for our bodies, good for our minds and good for the world around us.

January to December has seen a calendar of activities and events hosted in the heart of Allara, Eglinton. Eight events over twelve months have attracted thousands of residents and the wider local community. We’re recapping some of our favourites of 2019!

January saw the start of a trio of Klub Kinkuna events with the first being the Klub Kinkuna Summer Splash! Locals cooled off with a range of water obstacles, food trucks, entertainment and Kinkuna Park. Just Ballin’ was the second event, introducing families to a new sport; from soccer to t-ball to basketball and multisports, a range of popular sports were all on display for residents to have a go. Klub Kinkuna was back again in October for the School Holidays with sports, food trucks, live music and more to enjoy. For big residents and little residents alike, the three-part series was a big success!

Allara resident Emma Murdoch led the Waitangi Day celebration, the national day of New Zealand, commemorating the signing, on 6 February 1840, of the Treaty of Waitangi. The day featured traditional New Zealand food stalls and community products sharing the joys of New Zealander culture with Allara residents. Over 700 people joined the celebration, some traveling from as far afield as Rockingham to experience Waitangi Day at Allara!

Based on community survey feedback, the awesome Allara Outdoor Family flicks screened ‘The Incredibles’ in March with around 250 people coming along to enjoy the movie and super pre show entertainment.

Food trucks have been well received by the community throughout the year with the Food Truck Fest running throughout February and March for locals to enjoy. The two part series was a big hit with food-loving residents who enjoyed outdoor dining during the summer months. Continuing on from the success of the Food Truck Fest, the Street Food Circus kicked off in October bringing a range of Perth’s favourite food trucks with global tastes to northern suburb shores.

The year rounded up with November’s community planting day, where over 25 Allara residents planted 494 plants across three selected beds in the exciting new park located along Impressions Drive. The community spirit was high and our little and big residents turned their hand to make their mark on the Allara community.

2020 is set to be no different with so much planned for residents and locals to enjoy. From cinema events, Klub Kinkuna series, foodie festivals and more so much is coming to Allara in the new year!
