Celebrate Australia Day 2019 in style. Free. Here are Heron Park's top destinations.

Australia Day is just around the corner and the Heron Park team have created a list of must-visit activities and destinations for your 2019 Australia Day experience.

Saturday 26th January is the day we celebrate everything it means to be Australia. The three-day weekend is a great opportunity to spend time with our loved ones, take some much-needed time out and enjoy the beautiful country we’re lucky to call home.  This is the day we reflect on what Australia has achieved while celebrating the future we have ahead. Below our team share the spots they will be enjoying this year!

Celebrate with The City of Armadale

Every year The City of Armadale celebrates Australia Day with a jam-packed evening of festivities with fireworks in the Armadale City Centre. Minnawarra or Memorial Parks are the recommended locations to experience the community celebration.

The annual event includes ‘carnival rides, a Water Fun Zone, lots of food stalls to tempt your taste buds and a full program of live music showcasing incredible local talent!’ advises The City of Armadale.

“At 8.30pm the highlight of the evening is the spectacular fireworks to the all Australian soundtrack collated by our very own Heritage FM local radio and broadcast on 107.3 FM. Don’t forget to stick around for even more fabulous entertainment and performers following the fireworks.” The City of Armadale continues.

For more information visit The City of Armadale website.

Spend the day at South Perth

The South Perth foreshore spans over ten hectares with events spanning the length including over 100 free activities for all the family. Food vendors, toddler and child-friendly activities, as well as picnic and shade areas, make South Perth an Australia Day Must. “New this year - Stunt Jump, Basket Connect 4, Airbrush Tattoos and the Big Wedgie Water Slides plus lots more!” states The City of South Perth

Enjoy Iconic Views at Kings Park and Botanic Gardens

Kings Park is an iconic destination for Australia Day celebrations. Arrive before noon to see the traditional 21 Gun Salute which takes place at the State War Memorial every year. Fraser Avenue has one of the best viewing spots in town. Pack a picnic blanket, some nibbles and drinks and head down to enjoy the Skyworks from above.

This year, Skyworks will be celebrating their 35th year of celebration with the largest Australia Day celebration in the country. Secure your viewing point at Kings Park before the display begins at 8 pm.

Celebrate the Australia Day weekend at Fringe!

Australia Day weekend is the perfect opportunity to experience the Fringe Festival. Both ticketed and free events are taking place throughout the city during the Australia Day weekend. The Pleasure Garden will transform into ‘children’s playground Little Pleasures on Saturday and Sunday from 3pm-5pm with a free and fun program of events to keep the kiddies entertained’. With local, national and international acts, there are lots of activities to enjoy with the whole family.

Taking place at various destinations throughout our city, start or end your weekend sampling some of the fantastic entertainment we have right here, in Perth.

Explore Langley Park’s, Entertainment Zone

Head to the hub of the Skyworks extravaganza with front row seats at Langley Park. Taking in the array of colourful fireworks, food vans and kids entertainment doesn’t get much better than this. Arrive early to secure your viewing point at what is one of the most popular Australia Day destinations. Take advantage of the BYO picnic zones and set up for the day, before the fireworks and laser show begin at 8 am.

However you and your loved ones choose to celebrate, The Heron Park team wish you a fantastic Australia Day weekend!
