Cricket Celebration for Heron Park Volunteers

Sunday 17th November was a special day for the dedicated group of committee members who give their time to the planning, coordination and execution of the annual Heron Park Harmony Festival.

Four years of successful coordination and event delivery is a fantastic achievement and as a ‘thank you’ from Nigel Satterley and the Heron Park team, the committee enjoyed a day at the cricket watching the third day of the India V Australia Test match at Optus Stadium.

The Harmony Festival is the result of hundreds of volunteer hours, tireless planning, many brainstorming sessions and the creativity of the committee members who collaborate to ensure the event is bigger and better each and every year for the Heron Park and the wider community.

Committee members and their chosen guest were invited to spend a day enjoying the match, sharing stories, brainstorming ideas for next year and having some good old-fashioned fun.

“It was the perfect opportunity for us to bond and network as a team, brainstorm new ideas and collaborations for next year, and we even bumped into our local member, Yaz Mubarakai MLA, who has pledged his ongoing support of our amazing community event” advises Heron Park Community Development Office, Lyndsey Stoney.

Over delicious vegetarian treats and fantastic views of both teams in action, The Harmony Festival committee enjoyed an afternoon thanking them for the efforts since the festival began in 2014. With plans to continue the fantastic community event which shares and celebrates our countries culture, the committee are excited about 2019’s event.

“Yesterday was one of the best days of my life! So thank you for the invite. Dad loved it and we had lots of fun. What a team we are now!” messaged Harmony Festival Committee Member Raj Paul.

We’re so proud to have such a generous and dedicated community driven to share their culture and celebrate with their neighbourhood. Thank you again to The Harmony Festival Committee Members.
