A royally musical weekend as Dalyellup College hosts the 2019 Queens Cup

In August 2019, Dalyellup Beach Estate supported Dalyellup College host the Queens Cup Band Competition for the first time. After an unfortunate late shortfall in funding, Dalyellup Beach Estate was pleased to be able to step in and provide much-needed funding to see this much-loved and anticipated annual event held in 2019.

The prestigious South West music event celebrates the talents of musicians of all ages from the region over a three-day musical spectacular, Friday to Sunday, including a jazz night, solo performances and brass band ensembles. The event concludes with a Sunday filled with showcases from the community and school concert bands. The Queens Cup takes place every year, providing an opportunity for bands and soloists to compete against each other and make new friends within the local music community.

“We are extremely grateful for this significant sponsorship from Dalyellup Beach Estate. Their generous funding gave the organising committee reassurance that we could deliver the Queens Cup as originally anticipated. We appreciate the incredible support shown to Dalyellup College and the tradition of this annual event,” said Nicole Havelberg, Sponsorship Coordinator.

As a long-term community partner, Dalyellup Beach has worked hand in hand with Dalyellup College since the school’s inception in 2001 and are proud to continue to support events and activities in the community. Satterley Community Development Manager, Amy Blundell has been central in driving support for Dalyellup College.

“The Queens Cup is a longstanding annual celebration of musicians and creative talent in the South West. We are proud to support community Arts in this way, and to have been part of bringing this exciting event to Dalyellup Beach Estate for competitors and spectators,” Ms. Blundell commented on the sponsorship.

Dalyellup College is the newest secondary facility in the Bunbury-Capel region and educates students from year 7 through to year 12. In 2015, the College received a $30 million investment into ‘state of the art’ facilities for current and future students to enjoy. These exciting developments include two new buildings for science, information technology, student services, senior school, classrooms, staff facilities and a seventy-five-seat lecture theatre. Also new is the facility for design and technology and home economics. Dalyellup College has invested in its facilities for our children today and in the future providing a fun, engaging and dynamic school experience for students.

The catchment area for Dalyellup College covers Dalyellup, Gelorup and Stratham as well as year 8 to 11 students from Capel. To find out more about the facilities and enrolment process, visit the College’s website.
