Enjoy a ‘Staycation’ this Summer from Allara

As the weather starts to heat up and school holidays creep upon us, it’s time to start thinking about summer plans and making sure you have the best. summer. ever. Contrary to what you might think, a memorable summer doesn’t have to involve jumping on a plane and spending an abundance of money on fancy hotels. Western Australia is the perfect location for a ‘staycation’, with its beautiful sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.

We’ve put together a few suggestions of places to visit to make the most of a summer staycation all within a short distance from your new home at Allara, Eglinton. 

Take a trip to Yanchep National Park 

Yanchep National Park is a picturesque location just a short drive from Allara. Famous for its Koala boardwalk, where you can spot one of Australia’s favourite animals in its natural environment, it’s also home to Western Grey Kangaroo’s and a number of walking trails to take an adventure through. There’s also a number of fun, family-friendly activities within the park including Treetop adventure and mini-golf! The park also has an abundance of BBQ facilities and picnic areas overlooking the lake, so it’s the perfect place to spend the day for the whole family. 

Head to Hillary’s Boat Harbour 

Just a twenty-minute drive from Allara, Hillary’s Boat Harbour has it all! Beyond the plentiful amount of boats harboured, it’s home to many great restaurants, shops and a man-made beach! The beach is ideal for children to swim safely and is located next to a play area if your little ones feel like playing under the sun sails! 

If you’re looking for adventure, Hillary’s is also home to Island Aqua Park from December to March, an inflatable water park for both adults and children alike! Hillary’s also offers boat trips with whale watching and trips to Rottnest Island if you feel like heading further afield.

Catch a Boat Ride to Rottnest Island

Rottnest Island is the perfect day trip for the whole family. Just a boat ride from Hillary’s or Fremantle, Rottnest Island is home to an abundance of wildlife, including the famous Quokkas! Beyond its wonderful wildlife, Rottnest is a great spot to get active with bikes and Segways that you can hire on the island for a few hours or the entire day.

If you’re not feeling so active, take a bus tour around the island or a leisurely wander at your own pace. With stunning coastlines, diving and surfing opportunities, fishing spots and a number of places to eat and drink, Rottnest Island has it all. 

Enjoy a day at Perth Zoo

Located a ferry ride from Elizabeth Quay Train Station (a direct line from Butler Station), Perth Zoo is home to species from all over the world including zebras, elephants, crocodiles and snakes! Perth Zoo holds several educational talks throughout the day, making it a great way to get up close and personal with the animals while learning a thing or two! 

Take a picnic along and enjoy a full day’s fun seeing the widest variety of animals available in Western Australia! Or head to the South Perth Foreshore for iconic city views after all your exploring.
