There is so much to do at Catalina, Mindarie. In the heart of Perth’s northern suburbs, Catalina offers residents the perfect balance between coastal tranquility and modern day suburbia. We’ve put together a list of some of our favourite nearby locations for you to explore this summer!

  1. STAY LOCAL AT CATALINA (FREE)
    Catalina Beach is home to a number of parks and playgrounds, perfect for family days out. Catalina Beach Park is a popular spot with locals featuring slides, trampolines, a climbing wall and a large sandpit. Pack a picnic and head down to enjoy your local playground and community!
  2. DREAM A LITTLE AT MINDARIE MARINA (FREE)
    Just a short drive from Catalina Beach, Mindarie Marina is a great place to spend an afternoon watching the boats go by. There is a choice of delightful restaurants and cafes for you to try. The marina is also ideal for an evening walk while the sun goes down.
  3. ENJOY ONE OF THE MANY LOCAL BEACHES (FREE)
    Catalina is surrounded by beautiful beaches with Mindarie Beach walking distance away. Quinns Beach and Jindalee Beach are both just a short drive from the estate with Quinns complete with a protected swimming net for your peace of mind. Pack a picnic, beach cricket, slip – slop – slap and you’re ready for a day of fun!
  4. CHECK OCEAN KEYS FOR FREE EVENTS (FREE/BUDGET)
    Ocean Keys shopping centre is just a short five minute drive from Catalina and offers a range of shops and restaurants. The centre also runs many family events to get involved in such as ‘Explore Mighty Rome’ that offers an opportunity for your little ones to learn about the history of Ancient Rome in a fun and creative way!
  5. JOIN THE BUZZ AT BURNS BEACH TWILIGHT MARKETS (FREE/BUDGET)
    Every Wednesday throughout summer, Burns Beach plays host to the Twilight Markets, packed with delicious food and artisan gift stalls; a perfect evening with friends and family. Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten-Free options are available to feed everyone in the family.
  6. GET READING AT THE LIBRARY (FREE)
    There are a number of libraries only a hop, skip and a jump away from your home at Catalina. Joondalup Library hosts a free ‘Story Time’ event one day each week aimed at pre-school children to encourage their love of reading. Clarkson Library is slighter closer to Catalina and also runs several free events throughout summer including Lego Club and Chess Club.
  7. SAY YES TO ADVENTURE AT YANCHEP NATIONAL PARK
    A local favourite, Yanchep National Park is a twenty minute drive from Catalina and is brimming with WA animals. Kangaroos are often seen in the grounds and the Koala Boardwalk is a spot not to be missed! and With barbecue and picnic facilities also available, Yanchep National Park is the ideal place for a day enjoying the best of the outdoors!
  8. GO FOR A SNORKEL AT YANCHEP LAGOON
    Yanchep Lagoon is one of the best places north of Perth to snorkel, with a huge reef and low waves making for perfect conditions to enjoy an afternoon of snorkelling looking for new fish and coral to spot! Situated roughly twenty metres from the shore, the reef is safe to access with shallow waters all the way.
  9. LEARN ABOUT HISTORY AT WANNEROO MUSEUM
    Wanneroo Museum is a great place for the whole family to learn about different events in history. The museum hosts several free events including ‘It’s all about the past’ every Monday designed for children aged 2-5 encouraging them to learn about the past with games, arts and crafts. It’s a great way for our littlest residents to interact with other kids and to learn more before they head to school. For the adults, they offer a free ‘trace your family history’ drop-in event on Monday’s between 9am and 12pm – perfect if you’re looking to learn a little more about your own history!
