Habitat on Davis Creek park opening event

In May, we celebrated the opening of our new park on Hodgson Avenue with an event that attracted almost 500 people.

The free family day included everything from a high-energy Zumba workshop to an animal farm. Attendees enjoyed scrumptious sliders from Donald & Tuck, sizzling snags courtesy of the local cricket club and mini massages throughout the day.

Located in the centre of Habitat, the park is almost a hectare in area and is a much-anticipated addition to the local community. Jack Hoffmann, Satterley’s General Manager for Victoria and Queensland says the popularity of the event showed just how welcome the park is for residents.

“This was one of the best events we’ve ever held at Habitat and we’d like to thank everyone who made it such a success. We’d also like to thank all Habitat residents for their patience – we know the park has been a little while coming, and we hope what’s been delivered is worth the wait.”

Jack says the new park offers residents an expansive and accessible green space that’s been designed for year-round enjoyment. In addition to the large grassed open areas and barbecue facilities, it features picnic tables and shelters, as well as an informal kids’ bike and racetrack.

For those younger (and young at heart) residents, there’s also a playground that emphasises the unique qualities of the surrounding environment.

“With a focus on the importance of nature-based play, the playground integrates natural wood structures and sculptural elements which reflect its proximity to the Davis Creek corridor,” Jack says.

“One of the things we’re most excited about is that once the planned pedestrian bridge is built, beginning in, the park will become accessible to all stages of the community.”
