Heron Park Harmony Festival 2017

Over 20 community groups participated on the day, with 14 music and dance performances, a Tea House, community food stalld, Have-A-Go art workshops and two art displays. Everyone had the chance to try out some traditional fashions, with Turban tying, Sari styling, henna tattoos and Maori mokos. Visitors also took home something to remember the day, with a postcard from our multi-cultural photo booth!

The Heron Park Harmony Festival is a perfect example of community capacity building! The festival is organised by a dedicated group of volunteers from local multi-cultural groups. Over the last 3 years, the group has continued to grow, this year welcoming Harrisdale Primary School and the Sri Lankan Cultural Society to the team! So far the festival has been funded by Heron Park and City of Armadale, however the committee is now looking to secure funding from other sources to ensure it can be sustainable into the future. A huge thank you goes to the entire committee- the festival simply wouldn't exist without them!
