How to get involved with your Honeywood community this festive season

Christmas is a time for family, friends, and community to come together and celebrate the holiday season. The holidays are about giving, but this doesn’t have to mean giving gifts. Instead, it can be about giving time and giving back in however we can to help those less fortunate or simply getting together with our neighbours to share in a celebration at such a wonderful time of year.

There may be a lot more happening in your local community than you realise and so many opportunities for you to meet your neighbours, give back and help put a smile on someone’s face. It’s easy to become caught up in the celebration of the season, but sometimes it’s even more special to press pause and take time with your family and community.

We share a few ways you can become involved with your Honeywood community this festive season.

1) Pack a picnic and blanket and head down to Carols by Candlelight. On Saturday 15th December the Honeywood Residents Group will be sharing festive spirit with an evening of carols and a visit from Santa himself!

2) Invite your neighbours over for a meal or invite your street to your nearest park and bring a plate to celebrate the festive season together. Woolworths share their favourite BBQ recipes HERE.

3) Volunteer your time to help with local events! It’s a great way to meet members of your community and give back to benefit others. Contact your Honeywood Residents Group to see how you can help with future activities.

4) Shop locally this Christmas. Choose local boutiques for your gifts this Christmas and support the businesses of other local people.

5) Support your local school and sports teams. Many will be running fundraisers and have fun days over the silly season to raise money for 2019.

6) Organise your own event. If you can’t find an event to get involved with, why not make your own! Visit your local retirement home and say hello to their residents over the Christmas period. Get in touch with your local church to see what programs they have running and how you can be involved.

7) Keep an eye on your Honeywood Community page and what’s on! The Honeywood Community Team have free events running all year round, so pop down and meet the team.

There are so many ways to get involved in your local community. Getting active with your fellow Honeywood residents doesn’t have to be expensive or daunting. Contributing and giving back to where we live is what makes a community a great place to live.

The Honeywood Estate team wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas and a happy 2019!
