Klub Kinkuna Splash down was a hit!

The thriving coastal community of Allara in Eglinton hosts celebrations and events throughout the year, with Summer being particularly active with families enjoying summer holidays and the six week break from school!

Events are centred around building community, encouraging Allara residents, the surrounding community and prospective purchasers to enjoy the fantastic amenity available. Food trucks, pop up outdoor cinemas, cultural celebrations and school holiday activities are a popular sight at Allara. Every event is designed with all age groups in mind so there’s something for everyone to get involved in.

In January 2020, Allara hosted the free Klub Kinkuna Summer Splashdown extravaganza designed for families and local residents to come together and have fun outdoors during the school holidays! Allara was alive with around 900 people enjoying splash based activities including water slides, the ‘Aqua Rush’ assault course and water fights! ‘Dunkin’ Time’ was the hit of the day, an event that involved sitting on a plank and waiting before it dropped and you were plunged into the waters beneath you! At the heart of it all was the much loved Allara WaterPlay zone, running everyday during the summer months each year, which features a water tunnel, water sprouts, fountain spray and jet streams

While water activities were the hero of the day, families were able to enjoy Kinkuna Park with an adventure playground, musical BBQs, bookshare, and picnic benches! On the Kinkuna Park multi-use court coaches taught players skills and drills to help perfect their game and shoot hoops.

A range of food stalls kept families fed and our littlest water adventurers full of energy to tackle the next water zone!

Katie Dixon, Community Development Officer at Allara, highlighted what a huge success the event was with incredible feedback from those in attendance “We had many residents comment on how much fun they had on the day, as they do at all Klub Kinkuna events! Those in attendance rated the event 'good' or 'excellent' which is a credit to our fantastic partners and activity providers! It was also great to see so many residents from further afield in attendance with 45% of attendees joining us from Butler or surrounding areas outside of Allara!

With more events planned at Kinkuna Park keep an eye on our Facebook page to find out about upcoming events and how you can get involved.
