There is no place you would rather be at Christmas time than Busselton. That’s a fact!

Whether it’s the inviting waters of Geographe Bay, or the beautiful outdoor spaces on offer, there’s so much to be enjoyed.

Below we look at six handy tips to ensure your silly season is well planned for to take the stress out of this special time.

1. Choose a Christmas Day location

The beauty of Christmas in Australia is that there are so many beautiful outdoor spaces that can be enjoyed for long lunches, picnic catch ups or a beachside beverage.

Head to the sparkling waters at Busselton Foreshore and Busselton Jetty where you’ll also find grassed areas, BBQ’s, cafes and most importantly plenty of shade!

2. Utilise the outdoor spaces within the estate

Provence has two lakes including the beautiful central lake area on Almond Parkway, plus Auerlian Lake toward the back of the estate. Both have play equipment and BBQ facilities, so you can meet up with neighbours or spend a balmy evening celebrating amongst gorgeous scenery.

3. Decorate the inside and outside of your home

There’s nothing which screams ‘Christmas’ quite like decorating your home and putting up your tree. While the ideal date for this is December 1, there are no rules! Why not go with a different theme this year? There are plenty of affordable Christmas decorations at local stores such as Kmart Busselton to keep your décor festively fresh!

4. Stock up on food and beverages

Often around Christmas time, long lost relatives and guests will make their presence known and on occasion you may get a surprise visitor or two. It’s always a good idea to have some extra snack foods in the house (think dips, cheese and crackers) to make sure guests are well-fed, especially if enjoying a Christmas beverage at the same time!

5. Make a list of things to do

Christmas holidays fly by and if you’re lucky enough to have time off work (or time with the kids), you may like to jot down a few things you want to achieve. Think exploring beaches down the coast, caves, wineries and breweries. You could even try horse-riding, mountain biking or abseiling depending on the level of adrenaline you are chasing! Just be sure to make a booking if eating out, as Christmas time in the south west can be particularly busy with visitors.

6. Be gift-ready

Start a list of gifts you need to buy and possible places you can get these from. Try and explore local businesses for interesting treasures or, if shopping online, ensure you give plenty of time for gifts to arrive and be exchanged/refunded if needed.
