Melbourne couple win $600k home in Australia’s biggest breakfast show prize giveaway!

Satterley and Simonds Homes have just made breakfast show history by giving away a brand-new home this morning, as part of Nine’s TODAY show home giveaway competition, to give first homebuyers across the country the chance to win a home valued at over $600,000 in Botanical Estate in Mickleham, Melbourne.

Out of nine other finalists, young Melbourne couple Ella and Jorge came out the winners live on TODAY this morning revealed by hosts Karl Stefanovic and Ally Langdon.

With the couple currently renting a cramped two-bedroom unit with a flatmate and their cat Figaro, they are now able to live the ultimate Aussie dream of being mortgage-free in their own designer three-bedroom, two-bathroom single-storey home constructed by Simonds Homes on a 350sqm block in Satterley’s popular Botanical estate in Mickleham.

While Ella and Jorge may have walked away with a new set of house keys, the nine remaining finalists have won $5000 each to help them save for their dream home.

Winner!

Satterley Chief Executive Nigel Satterley said that he couldn’t be happier for the first homebuyer couple.

“I’m delighted that a young couple starting their lives together can now raise a family in their very own home and build a lifetime of memories,” he said.

“I’m sure they will love living in our Botanical community, which will be surrounded by beautiful parks and will have everything they need and want to raise a family,” he added.

Once complete, Botanical will be a thriving masterplanned community nestled amongst more than 30 hectares of planned open spaces and parks, and planned shopping village, sports oval and convenience store.

First homebuyer Ella Fenton said that she had been on a very strict savings plan for years including bulk cooking the same meals for weeks on end and rarely splashing out on takeaway or going out.

“Owning my first home is something that has been on my mind and in my plans for the past few years but unfortunately, just like for a lot of young people, that dream has been a little out of reach,” she said.

“We’ve really had to put everything on hold with a very disciplined savings plan,” she added.

Congratulations to Ella and Jorge!

Simonds joint Chief Executives and Managing Directors Kelvin Ryan and Rhett Simonds said Simonds had been delivering new homes for Australians for over 70 years.

“We know first homebuyers well,” they said.

“We’re very proud of our homes and our relationships with our suppliers and partners - their generosity in building this home has been incredible. There are many upgraded finishes and features.”

“Congratulations to Ella and Jorge on winning your new home – what a fantastic start for your family and life together,” they added.

TODAY hosts Karl Stefanovic and Ally Langdon announced Ella as the major prize winner after the 10-week competition saw thousands of video entries from first homebuyers. Each week, a finalist has been revealed, with the 10 finalists discovering if they’d won this morning.
