Mindarie Beach access opens at Catalina estate

Mindarie Beach access opening community event

Residents at Catalina Beach will now be able to easily access a beautiful stretch of Mindarie Beach, with a new beach access officially opened on Saturday 19 February. The extensive project included 800m of new road for the extension of Portofino Promenade, car park for up to 30 cars and a dual use path.

To mark this significant milestone for the estate and local area, development partners, Satterley and Tamala Park Regional Council (TPRC), invited residents and purchasers to an exclusive community sneak peek event from 9am to 11am, before the road was opened to the general public from 2pm.

The event saw little ones entertained by giant bubbles from the magical mermaid performer, while guests were treated to spectacular coastal views and complimentary drinks from the coffee cart.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony saw various VIPs including City of Wanneroo Mayor, Tracey Roberts, Deputy Mayor, Brett Treby, Member for Burns Beach, Mark Folkard MLA, Cr Nige Jones, Tamala Park Regional Council Chair, Cr Bianca Sandri, and CEO, Jon Morellini join to declare the Mindarie Beach access officially open in front of more than 120 eager residents.

Following the ribbon-cutting, families and children wandered down the path to the beach to build sandcastles with their Catalina branded buckets and spades and splash about in the water.

Satterley General Manager – Development and Sales, John Silla, said “The new beach access at Catalina will provide residents and families with easy and convenient access to a magnificent stretch of beach in the growing Northern Coastal corridor.”

“Previously, beach access in the area was limited to Clayton’s Beach via Mindarie Marina so this is an exciting addition for the local community,“ he added.

Mr Silla also revealed there are further plans for a foreshore park adjacent to the dual use path with designs currently underway and construction set to commence later in the year.

Cr Sandri said the opening of the beach access was an exciting day for the TPRC and represented the culmination of the hard work by many people to bring plans to fruition.

“The new beach access road and carpark are great improvements, not only for residents of Catalina Estate, but the broader community who will now be able to enjoy convenient access to a beautiful beach.”
