Young family enjoying new home

Congratulations! Your new home in a Satterley masterplanned community is ready to move into. You’ve got the keys; the hard yards have been completed and it’s now the time to step back and enjoy your new home with your family.

Moving into a new house can often be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. With careful planning and organisation moving into your new home can be enjoyable and stress-free.

Below we share our top tips for easy, stress-free moving!

  1. Book your removal company or organise your friends and family to be on hand for moving day.
  2. Organise your internet connection at your new home. Often providers need up to three weeks to organise your new connection, so be sure to arrange this well in advance of your move date.
  3. Have a plan for your children and pets. Moving house can often be a little chaotic. Organise sitters or for friends to look after your little ones so you can concentrate on moving and organising your new home.
  4. Organise household contents insurance for your new home.
  5. Update documentation with your new address; banks, doctors, driving license and car registration are a few examples.
  6. Set up a redirect for your mail while you update your address.
  7. Redirect or cancel subscriptions, like your newspaper.
  8. Transfer and set up new utilities at your new address.
  9. Defrost and empty your fridge prior to moving.
  10. If you’re working with a removalist, a floor plan of your new home might be handy to ensure all items are placed in the room you need them in, ready for unpacking.
  11. When in your new home, check all utilities are working and your hot water is on earlier in the day.
  12. Let your friends and family know you have moved and notify them of your new address and home phone number. What better way to do so than with a housewarming party!
  13. Pack a first night box. Your first night in your home can often be a little disorganised while your essentials find a new home. Pack a box of essentials in advance containing toiletries, snacks and water so you don’t have to go searching when you’re ready for bed.
