The Best FREE Things to do in the Shire of Kalamunda

Designed with families and modern day living in mind, The Hales is a Satterley masterplanned community that combines proximity to nature and established community amenities. Public open spaces, Parklands lush with Marri and Jarrah Trees, Crumpet Creek, fantastic education options, Forrestfield Shopping Centre and the new DFO outlet are some of the nearby amenities within a skip and a jump of your new home at The Hales, Forrestfield.

The Shire of Kalamunda houses Forrestfield and has a wealth of nature starting at your doorstep. From scenic strolls to your monthly local farmers market perfect for fresh fruits and veggies, activities for your little ones and adventures for the adrenaline junkies among us; there is something for everyone when you live at The Hales.

  • Lesmurdie Falls – Journey through Lesmurdie Falls and the various trails ready for your exploration. Take a picnic for lunch and bushwalk along the magnificent trails, taking in the stunning views over the Swan Coastal Plain at the numerous lookout platforms. Waking trails differ from 30 minutes to 2 hours and above, with disabled access available to all toilets and picnic areas.
  • Kalamunda Village Markets – Taking place monthly throughout the year, Kalamunda Village Markets host the perfect Saturday morning. Well established with a vast variety of traders, your family can explore local crafts and produce, boutique shops and some of the best coffee in Perth!
  • Rocky Pool Walk – Kalamunda’s foothills have a variety of walking trails and one of our favourites is Rocky Pool Walk. The 5km route is one for the more experienced hiker with steep descents, but the beautiful views of wildflowers and creeks that develop over winter make this a must-do activity for Forrestfield locals.
  • Kalamunda Mountain Bike Circuit With over 40km’s of single track trails, Kalamunda Mountain Bike Circuit is the most popular for riders in Western Australia. Situated in a location that envelopes both our National Park and State Forrest there is a range of trails from the ‘dugite’ snaking trail to the ‘loco en el coco’; ideal for the amateur and experienced rider.
  • Jorgensen Park Walk TrailThe 1 hour, 2.7km trail is perfect for a family walk. With dogs permitted in some areas, our furry friends can join in on the action. The old fairways and Bibbulmun Track are incorporated into the route and so there is plenty to see as you venture through the trail.
  • Zig Zag scenic driveEscape the city to Zig Zag Drive in the heart of the Darling Range. Twisting down the Darling Scarp, panoramic views across the coastal plain will be revealed as well as the Perth city skyline and a peek of Indian Ocean. If a slower afternoon is on your agenda, Zig Zag Scenic Drive is a must-do! Pack a picnic, bring your camera and binoculars to spend the afternoon taking in Perth’s sights!

Living in the heart of Forrestfield provides your family with a vast variety of established facilities and amenities to explore. Outdoor living doesn’t have to mean living over an hour away from the city and compromising on factors you love about your lifestyle. By choosing The Hales, Forrestfield you’re saying yes to living within 15km of Perth CBD and saying yes to living amongst some of Perth’s most beautiful surrounds.
