The Hales Summer Holiday Activities

The Hales is a thriving community located just 15km east of the CBD. The Hales is the perfect place to make the most of what WA has to offer you and your family. Planning activities that keep the kids entertained throughout summer can feel like hard work, especially if you have kids of different ages. Planning ahead is key and we have some of our favourite nearby activities to keep your little, or not so little ones entertained over the January break.

Whether it’s your first summer at The Hales or you’re familiar with the area, we’ve put together a few activity suggestions for you and the family this summer to keep everyone entertained.

1. Head to the adventure playground at the Hales

The Hales has an incredible adventure playground perfect for the summer. Complete with slides, swings and everything in between an afternoon of fun awaits. Head down with a picnic and some sunscreen and make a day of it with the whole family.

2. Head to Elizabeth Quay and catch a ferry

Elizabeth Quay is just a short train ride from Forrestfield and offers boat trips to a number of destinations including Rottnest Island, South Perth and Fremantle. All destinations offer something different and provide a great day out with plenty to do. Hop on the TransPerth ferry and take a short trip to South Perth and visit Perth Zoo, just a short walk from the terminal.

3. Take a trip to Mundy Regional Park

Mundy Regional Park is just a short drive from The Hales and offers stunning views overlooking the city and further afield. It’s a great place to take a walk and see the best of WA’s nature!

4. Spend an afternoon Painting

Painting is a great way to get creative and have fun at the same time. There are plenty of inexpensive things around you to paint; from rock painting to your own hands and feet! Pick up some supplies, head into the garden and paint some pictures together before hanging them up in the house to create some memories. Hose off outside of easy cleanup!

5. Take a trip to Cottesloe Beach

Located on the coast just past the city, Cottesloe is well known as one of WA’s best beaches. With its white sand, great surf and cafe strip Cottesloe Beach is one of our favourite spots! Take a day trip, pack some towels and snacks and head out for a day of adventure. With gentles shores on one side, Cottesloe is ideal for swimming or snorkelling too!

6. Visit Rocky Pool

Cool off in the nearby (and very picturesque!) Rocky Pool. You can park and walk there to make a day of it. Pack a picnic lunch and make sure you also take plenty of water!

7. Host a playdate

A playdate is a perfect opportunity for your kids to socialise with school friends and neighbours. Invite some friends over for the afternoon, set up some water games in the garden and make some finger food for everyone to enjoy. Simple and lots of fun!

Life at The Hales is perfect for families with so many things to do from local parks and playgrounds and its proximity to the CBD and Perth City. There’s plenty to explore and new activities to try ensuring everyone is entertained throughout all of January! Have we missed your favourite Summer holiday activity? Let us know below!
