The Satterley Community Difference

We often talk about the good old days of close-knit communities, where everyone knew everyone, and we reminisce about the great memories we had growing up in them. Well, I am here to tell you that the good old days are far from over!

Satterley communities are places where neighbours still wave and say hello, children in the street play together, and there are community activities from farmers markets through to outdoor movie nights.

We know that communities do not just appear by building roads, parks and houses. That is why Satterley was one of the first, and remains one of the few, residential developers in Australia to have an in-house Community Development Team committed to being there every step of the way.

Satterley Chief Executive Nigel Satterley said the company’s national community team was a key element in creating healthy and happy communities.

“Developers build the roads and infrastructure, but it takes something more exceptional to make people feel connected, and to genuinely love where they live,” said Mr Satterley.

“Community is at the heart of everything we do at Satterley. It’s part of our company’s core values and having our own in-house team that is there from start to finish is what helps a community thrive,” he added.

Satterley’s community teams around Australia are here to make sure you feel at home. Let us look more closely at what they offer and how they are here to help you settle into your new life.

Making you feel at home

Moving into a new community can be both exciting and overwhelming. Perhaps you’re starting a new job, business or your children are starting at a new school and you’re unsure what resources are available to you and your family. That is where Satterley’s dedicated community team can help. They are on-hand to answer any of those tricky questions and to connect you to local clubs, schools, businesses, and local government services, to make settling in that much easier.

Exciting Events and Activities

The community team is always finding new ways to connect neighbours and build community spirit. Satterley hold all types of events and activities from outdoor movie nights and weekend markets to free school holiday activities and Christmas and Easter events. Some of these include; Klub Kinkuna at Allara,  Seaside Outdoor Cinemas at Eden Beach, Dog Adoption Day at Arcadia, the Pick of the Harvest event to celebrate the opening of the new display village at Botanical and the annual Harmony Festival at Heron Park.

This year has made us realise, more than ever, how important it is to feel connected to others, and to be part of a caring community. During COVID-19 restrictions the community team knew the importance of making sure residents and their families still felt connected to the wider community and were entertained while being in isolation. Satterley was one of the first developers to turn their community events program into a virtual initiative, known as the Virtually Together Program.

Satterley Community Development Manager Amy Blundell said that Satterley’s national Virtually Together Program was a huge success.

“The feedback we received from residents was amazing,” said Ms Blundell.

“It’s comforting to know that our team could make a difference to people’s lives during this time,” she said.

Some of the activities included at-home movie nights, kite-making kit giveaways for a coordinated front yard flying event, mobile ice-cream and coffee vans providing driveway service to residents, and weekly home-based boredom busters to keep children occupied.

“Our community team truly cares about its residents, and in my opinion, this is what makes living in a Satterley community that bit more special,” said Ms Blundell.

Community Sponsorship

The added benefit of living in a Satterley community means you may be eligible for assistance through the Community Sponsorship Program.

Satterley’s Community Sponsorship Program provides the opportunity for community groups and organisations to apply for funding to support community events, activities and projects, or to purchase vital equipment.

This is one of the reasons why Satterley prides itself on having its own in-house community development team – to help the community grow and support it to become sustainable well into the future.

Our friendly Community Development Team are always on hand to help in the community!

Many of Satterley’s masterplanned communities feature primary schools and secondary colleges, shopping precincts, medical facilities, beautifully landscaped parks, recreation spaces and have easy access to employment hubs and transport links.

This year Satterley celebrates 40 years in business as Australia’s leading residential land developer. It has been involved in creating more than 175 communities in Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland and has won more than 100 industry awards.
