Winter dates often revolve around your TV or overindulging in your favourite warm treats. The chill in the air makes us want to hide away and hibernate until the warmer Spring months arrive. But when we delve into the warmth of our sofa we miss so many delights taking place in the great outdoors!

Winter is one of our favourite times of the year. The beaches and walking trails are quieter and without the hustle and bustle, some of our favourite Summer destinations become secret Winter hideaways!

Below we share our top 10 romantic Winter dates, all within a stones throw of your home at Allara. Pop these destinations on your calendar to explore this Winter.

  1. Take a picnic to Yanchep National Park. Pack your favourite treats, picnic rug and a flask of hot chocolate to wind away the afternoon. Time your visit with sunset and you might be joined by the local Kangaroos or Koala’s!

  2. Rug up and stroll along your favourite beach. With Alkimos Beach and Yanchep Lagoon only a short drive away, you can enjoy the tranquility of your local beach without the Summer rush. Choose your time wisely and you might be the only people there.

  3. Watch the sunset at Yanchep Lagoon. Winter means an early sunset, perfect for post-work relaxation. Drive to the Yanchep Lagoon Cafe and park along the coastal path for in-car views or venture to one of the many benches to see the sunburnt orange fill the sky!

  4. Transform your backyard. Investing in a safe and stylish outdoor fire pit like this one from Bunnings can transform how you use your outdoor space in Winter. Grab a blanket and DIY smores to enjoy Winter evenings at home.

  5. Enjoy a local nature trail. Trails WA have a great network of short, intermediate and advanced trails to enjoy this Winter. Native florals are out in style, so bring your camera and capture WA nature at its best.

  6. Take a road trip to the Swan Valley wineries. Cherry reds and dark beers are perfect for sampling and enjoying during the Winter. Mandoon Estate is one of our favourite spots for homemade warming pies, the perfect accompaniment for your drink of choice.

  7. Winter is the hardest season for those less fortunate. Check out your local volunteering opportunities to find a cause that touches your heart and volunteer your time together!

  8. Shop seasonal and check out your local farmers market! Bring home a selection of seasonal veggies to cook and enjoy together for dinner. Yanchep Monthly Markets takes place on the last Sunday of the month and the Joondalup Growers Market runs every Saturday!

  9. Double date over a games night. Invite over your couple friends and bring out your favourite board games!

  10. Embrace Winter sports. Winter means more hockey, football, soccer and rugby games are on across Perth! Support your local team and enjoy the action-filled events near you.
