Top 8 Picnic Spots Near Ocean Hill

Ocean Hill, Lakelands provides residents with the perfect balance between coastal tranquility and nearby amenity. If you’re a family who loves the outdoors, Ocean Hill has so many beautiful coastal spots to enjoy a bite to eat and refreshing beverage with friends. In fact, locations close to Ocean Hill are arguably some of the best in WA!

Whether you’re looking to stay local and enjoy one of the many parks and playgrounds within the Ocena Hill community or venture to locations closeby, there are plenty of picnic spots you can head to this summer. Below we share some of our favourites!

 

  1. EASTERN FORESHORE RESERVE, MANDURAH
    A short drive from Ocean Hill, the Eastern Foreshore Reserve in Mandurah offers spectacular views overlooking the ocean. Forget five star restaurants and set up dinner with 180-degree ocean views and a sunset fit for the movies. Take a short walk around the foreshore and treat yourself to an ice cream after your meal to finish the night in style!
  2. MADORA FORESHORE, MADORA BAY
    One of the closest beach spots to Ocean Hill, Madora Foreshore is a great location to enjoy the beautiful views and watch the world go by. There’s also a dog beach here for you to include your precious pouch in your picnic, so why not pack a puppy snack or two!
  3. SINGLETON FORESHORE
    Singleton Foreshore is another popular destination with locals and tourists alike, offering a place to enjoy a bite to eat while your little ones play on the playground and burn off some energy! Singleton Foreshore is a great spot to take the kids for an afternoon of fresh air and good old fashioned beachside entertainment.
  4. SERPENTINE FALLS
    A hugely popular location with locals, Serpentine Falls offers a beautiful picnic area complete with barbecue facilities. Set in the national park and alongside the natural falls, you may even spot a kangaroo or two. Complete your day with a stroll along one of the many bushwalks within the park before heading home.
  5. WAROONA DAM
    A forty-five-minute drive from Ocean Hill, Waroona Dam is the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon of activities and picnic-ing. Fishing, water-skiing and boating are all on offer at Waroona Dam as well as campsites and bushland so you can enjoy an abundance of local wildlife and natural WA charm.
  6. YALGORUP NATIONAL PARK 
    Located just south of Mandurah, Yalgorup National Park is set just back from the ocean and offers a great place for an afternoon during the summer months. Complete with a boardwalk offering one of the only places in WA to see the Lake Clifton thrombolites, which are rock-forming micro-organisms, and several walks in the woodlands, Yalgorup National Park is a hidden gem not to be missed.
  7. HOTHAM RIVER
    A historic river, just a forty-five-minute drive from Ocean Hill, Hotham River is 160km long and offers plenty of adventure if you don’t mind travelling further afield. The foreshore offers a large open space for a picnic or barbecue overlooking the river in the heart of Boddington. There’s also a walking trail you can enjoy if you want to explore more of the river and the surrounding grounds.
  8. LANGFORD PARK
    Once part of a mine, Langford Park is an idyllic area with picnic grounds and barbecue facilities set amongst a number of trail walks and grassed area. There are mountain bike trails too if you’re looking for a spot of adventure after food!
