What is the masterplanned community lifestyle actually like?

As a homeowner on a Satterley estate, you have the freedom to make your property your own.

1. Imagine a home that's uniquely yours

It can be hard to make a rental home feel like your own - with limitations to the alterations you can make, you're constantly reminded that you're living in someone else's property. When you have built your own home in a Satterley community, however, you're firmly in the driving seat when it comes to decisions regarding your real estate.

Many of our residents buy their land first, and go to a home builder second. By doing things this way, your building partner is able to develop a house that perfectly matches the lot.

The other crucial reason for buying your land before the bricks and mortar is because this is where the value lies. If your home is built on poor quality land its value will always be restricted, no matter how great the structure or interior may be.

What makes the properties on Satterley's masterplanned communities so enticing for first home buyers is that no one has lived in them before - this is your house and your land.

2. Imagine somewhere with a real sense of community

Life in a Satterley community is defined by much more than a zip code. Our aim is to build unified communities where your neighbours are your friends, not just nodding acquaintances.

To help foster this atmosphere, many of Satterley's estates have dedicated community teams who organise events in order to bring residents together. These initiatives can include:

  • Concerts
  • Workshops
  • Movie nights
  • Markets
  • Sports and fitness classes
  • Residents meet and greet nights.

A great example was the inaugural Cassia Christmas Mixer. Special guests such as members of The Rockingham Flames SBL team and, of course, Santa, joined 80 residents to celebrate the festive season. Attractions included a free sausage sizzle and making Christmas decorations from recycled materials!

The rewards of events like this go far beyond the days themselves. Through making connections, residents can go on to found their own clubs, adding another layer of depth to the community.

Cohesive neighbourhoods are a major feature of the masterplanned community lifestyle, providing residents with a sense of security as well as opportunities to socialise.

Community spaces and events make Satterley's estates sociable for all ages.

3. Imagine the city being on your doorstep

Convenience will play a huge part in making your new home a joy to live in. Nobody wants to drive long distances when going to work, doing the shopping or completing the daily school run.

This is why masterplanned communities are designed to get you close to everything you need. When choosing estate locations, we take into account not only existing transport hubs, but look at the plans for future development when choosing estate locations.

Take Smithfield Village, QLD, for instance. This estate is situated just 15 minutes from Cairns CBD (while still giving residents access to the stunning Far North beaches!), a commute that's likely to become even shorter due to the proposed Smithfield Bypass.

Another example is Seven Hills in Dianella, WA. This community sits on top of a hill next to a reserve, but is only 10 km from Perth’s CBD. That means that from your doorstep it’s only 15 minutes to the CBD and 2 minutes into the bush! On top of this, you have easy access to a range of established schools.

As well as handy transport links, we aim to ensure that the estates themselves are packed with facilities and services that will make our residents’ lives that bit easier. Common examples include libraries, health centres and retail outlets.

4. Imagine a community you can't help but explore

You shouldn't need to go on holiday in order to relax and enjoy your surroundings.

Fortunately, part and parcel of the masterplanned community life is getting to call a beautifully landscaped estate 'home'.

There's plenty of evidence for how important green areas are for our mental, social and physical health, so these are a particular focus on many of our estates. Botanical, VIC, as one example, contains over 30 hectares of open spaces, as well as a sports oval and planned access to a future community recreation area.

In other estates you can find hiking and biking trails, playgrounds, and (geography permitting!) access to beaches and wetland areas.

Satterley's estates offer amenities such as schools, and are great places for kids to grow up.

You have all the above to look forward to when you move into your Satterley masterplanned estate, but we understand that day could feel a little way away.

Luckily, the benefits of life on one of our estates kick in way before you walk across the threshold of your new home.

Our team will listen to your needs, and help you through the process of finding the perfect land package for your family. We can also provide you with all the information on the social aspects of your chosen community, including local clubs, and any upcoming events you can get involved with.

With almost 40 years of introducing Australians to the benefits of life in a masterplanned community, we're confident that we can find you the perfect home whether you live in VIC, QLD or WA. To talk to one of our team about exactly what you're looking for, get in touch with us today.

Imagining life in your first home is exciting.

Finally, you'll have a place that you can truly call your own, without the restrictions and uncertainty that come with renting. However, the sheer range of possibilities you have can be both a blessing and a curse: the freedom to choose is great, but sometimes it's hard to know where to start.

In this article we'll explore one option: life in a masterplanned community. By using case studies from some of Satterley's estates we hope to give you a flavour of exactly what these neighbourhoods have to offer.

  • Note: Satterley's communities are all unique. Each estate has different features and facilities - it's worth getting in touch with your local Estate Manager to see what's on offer in your area.
