Company Story A proud history built from the ground up.
From humble beginnings in 1980, Satterley founder and chief executive, Nigel Satterley, has steadily grown a local West Australian company to become Australia’s largest independent land developer with masterplanned communities across Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland.
Where our story began
When Nigel founded Satterley 43 years ago, his vision for the company was clear. To create the most desirable residential communities in Australia. And that has been the company’s focus ever since.
We continuously strive to develop Australia’s most attractive and livable communities with the wellbeing of our residents at the heart of everything we do. Nigel was pioneering in creating the design concept of the ‘masterplanned community’ which placed an increased focus on designing estates that are highly connected, feature plenty of amenities and have many beautifully landscaped parks and green spaces.
Essentially Nigel wanted to recreate mini versions of the friendly country towns like the one he grew up in called Cunderdin, a small wheatbelt town in Western Australia. As the company has grown, Satterley has broadened its market reach through creating many smaller urban infill developments, affordable townhouse projects, and commercial developments.
Today, Nigel’s energy and drive is as strong as ever and he remains “hands-on” in shaping and growing the business. He remains passionate in his vision and to achieve successful outcomes for the company, its investor partners, and the buyers who choose to build their home and raise their family in a Satterley community.
