Hosting your child’s birthday on a dime, at Honeywood Wandi!

Since Wandi District Playing Fields launched in 2017 parents have the option to host their children’s birthday party next to the new BBQ and picnic areas, natural shaded spots or beneath the shade sails while their children play on the oval, double flying fox, slide tunnels, nature-based obstacles, swings, slides, spinning cup and more. The addition of a waterplay zone makes this destination the perfect spot to cool off and enjoy the warm summer weather.

The annual expense of hosting a party for your little one and their friends can be a daunting prospect, but with the established amenities in your Honeywood community along with some tips from the Honeywood team, we believe your child’s birthday party will be one for the memory bank. Below we share some tips to help create the perfect day, without breaking the bank:

  • Arrive early – on warm summer days, arrive at your local Honeywood park early. Spend the morning tackling the playground before friends arive!
  • Use your favourite, free venue – with so many wonderful parks in your Honeywood community, you don’t have to travel too far to arrive at a fun-packed party destination. • Make your decorations DIY- With our bright yellow picnic tables and bbq spots, simple DIY decorations can make your child’s day a burst of party delight!
  • Create your own games – How about a treasure hunt in the park, races on the oval or obstacle courses on our nature trails.
  • Keep it simple - Skip the themed paper plates, cups and napkins – this won’t seem like a huge saver, but once you add in the costs it really becomes noticeable!
  • Homemade is the best way – Make cakes and snacks at home and take across to your local park. Energy is essential to tackle the playground, so keep your party goers fed with delicious home-made treats.
  • Thank you cards – Making homemade thank you cards with your birthday boy or girl is a great way to say a personal thank you, rather than with expensive lolly bags. A handwritten note is a great way to say thanks for coming!
  • Borrow the essentials – Reach out to your friendly Honeywood community to borrow the essentials you need for a party; tablecloths, trestle tables and large serving bowls might be a couple of doors away.
  • Bring a plate – If homemade isn’t your thing ask friends and families to bring a plate or their choice of meats to cook on the bbq.

We love seeing the number of celebrations, birthdays for residents big and small at the parks and playgrounds throughout our community. Did you know, that along with our array of beautifully landscaped parks over 25% of our community has been retained for native bushland? And, over 28 hectares or conservation wetlands has been set aside for protection and as habitat for the endangered Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo.

Don’t just take our word for it, plan your weekend trip, or next celebration at Honeywood, Wandi.
