Wandi favourite The Local Farmers Market is back at Honeywood

Residents and the wider Wandi community are enjoying weekly delights, thanks to The Local Farmers Market which takes place at the Wandi District Playing fields every Sunday.

Every week, over 30 local businesses attend with the products to trade with the local community, providing everything from fruit and vegetables, candles, clothing, food, natural and organic health and beauty produce and pet supplies.

The Local Farmers Market has been active in Honeywood for over three years, having gained a loyal following of weekly shoppers who have made the choice to ‘shop local’. Having previously been located next to the Honeywood Sales Office, the market has grown and has recently been relocated to the new Wandi District Playing fields, providing more space for traders and shoppers alike.

The Wandi District Playing fields have been a hit with the Honeywood community, next to the Honeywood Primary School the area has a large grassed oval and playground with shaded picnic areas and bbq zones, perfect for a Sunday morning family activity.

“Every week we have over 400 residents and locals attend our markets to shop and support local businesses. It’s been exciting to see the market grow and to be supported so widely by residents. We’re always listening to what our shoppers would like to see and encourage new stall holders to reach out if they feel their business would be a great addition to our community market” Owner and Operator, Pieta advises.

“The markets have become a part of local shoppers weekly routine, which is great to see. Regulars come along to buy their fruit and veg, browse the stalls and grab their breakfast and coffee while they are here. There is a great community atmosphere and it's wonderful to know we are a part of such a thriving community” Pieta continues.

Community Development Officer, Katie Dixon is proud to support the markets “The Local Farmers Markets are loved by our residents. Running from the markets become our resident’s destination to support their fellow residents’ businesses and to shop local, experiencing great quality products on their doorstep. The hard work Pieta and her team have invested in our community is evident by the 400 plus people who enjoy the markets every week”.

The Local Farmers Market takes place every Sunday, 8 am – 12noon every week at The Wandi District Playing Fields.
