Nestled in the heart of Perth’s southern suburbs, Piara Waters is a dynamic and rapidly growing suburb that combines modern living with a rich historical backdrop. With its roots dating back to the early days of European settlement in the area, Piara Waters boasts a fascinating history that has paved the way for its growing community and lifestyle seen today.

1. Piara Waters Suburb’s Roots:

Starting with a little history Piara Waters along with its neighbouring suburbs, Harrisdale, Hilbert, and Haynes, were officially announced as suburbs in 2007 and started taking shape to what it looks like today.

2. Innovation in Planning:

Back in 2009, the City of Armadale hit the jackpot with the Property Council’s Innovation & Excellence Awards. They aced it with smart planning in North Forrestdale, creating a whopping 1600 new lots in Harrisdale and, of course, our very own Piara Waters. It’s like our city’s on a mission for smart and sustainable growth – hats off!

3. Preserving Our History:

In 2013, the City of Armadale went all out to preserve the Baker’s House roots. A heritage site in nearby Harrisdale, got a makeover and opened its doors to the public. It’s like a time capsule, showcasing the rich history that makes the city who they are.

In 2014 The Piara Waters Pavilion came into the scene. This multipurpose spot opened its doors in August, becoming the go-to hub for all sorts of activities and events. Think sporting tournaments, community gatherings, and good times all around – it’s where the magic happens!

5. Educational Milestone:

Fast forward to 2023, where Piara Waters Senior High School warmly embraced the community. In an instant, our tranquil enclave transformed into the go-to family hub, and, believe it or not, the youngsters began their academic adventures right on our doorstep. Now that’s a significant milestone for our neighbourhood! Can you sense that surge of community pride?

 

6. Burt’s Legacy:

Piara Waters sits snug in the heart of the federal electorate division of Burt, a tribute to the remarkable figures of Sir Archibald Paull Burt, Septimus Burt, and Sir Francis Burt. These weren’t mere historical names; they helped shape the colony of Western Australia into the state we know today, with Sir Archibald serving as the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. 

7. The Resilient Pub:

Picture this: the CY O’Connor Pub, our beloved local, rising from the ashes like a phoenix. Destroyed by fire in 2021, it’s now back, better, and hungrier for greatness. Winning WA’s Best Steak Sandwich title is just the beginning—CY O’Connor’s is not just a pub. It’s where families and friends meet, stories unfold, and memories are etched in the heart.

8. Fresh Beginnings at Aarya:

Coming in 2024, Aarya, a brand-new community along Warton Road, promises a cozy haven with approximately 400 homesites and 5.1ha of parks and rec spaces. It’s not just a home; it’s the canvas for your family’s future.
