The Swim Thru Perth is Australia’s oldest open water swim having first been held in 1912. Although there have been many changes to the race course and distance over the years, the race has always been held in January in the Swan River. Throughout the 110-year history of the event the race has only been interrupted by the two World Wars, a polio epidemic and the Covid epidemic in 2021.
The first event in 1912 saw 50 swimmers take to the water; these days over 300 racers participate each year!
Satterley has been a long-time supporter of this fantastic community event; indeed, our very own Chief Executive Nigel Satterley was even the 1984 Swim Thru champion!
This year we were the race-name sponsor of the Satterley 1.6km Classic Mile event. Congratulations to Paul Blackbeard for taking top honours in this prestigious event.
