About My Room

Proceeds of the sale go to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity

In 1993, a group of parents came together with the humble goal of raising enough money to renovate the rooms in the cancer ward of The Royal Children’s Hospital. They achieved that goal and more. Over the past 30 years, My Room has raised more than $30 million to improve the quality of life for patients with childhood cancer.

My Room Children’s Cancer Charity is a volunteer-led organization, working together to support patients and families affected by cancer, without bureaucracy. We rely on the generosity of our donors to fund support for families, vital medical equipment, clinical care, research, and trials. We’re committed to raising funds ethically and in a cost-effective manner.

My Room has a full-time executive and provides offices, administration, and financial management services pro bono. We’re proud to say we keep administration costs low and combined with our efficient fundraising methods, we administer 95% of the total donations directly to the projects funded. We hold a deductible gift recipient status (DGR1) and are registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.

2022 Home For A Cure Charity Auction

The 2022 Home for a Cure charity auction was another huge success, with the home selling for $905,000 at True North estate in Greenvale with proceeds going to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.

The auction was the centerpiece of a fundraising effort that also included a telethon hosted by Channel 9, raising a total of more than $3.3 million, following the auction result. The proceeds will go towards support for families with a child undergoing cancer treatment, medical equipment, clinical care, research, and clinical trials.
