The best sunset locations close to The Hales

At the start of a new year, we make resolutions to make time for ourselves, to be healthier and to spend time outdoors; but before we know it, life is progressing full steam ahead and our promise to ourselves takes a back seat. Taking time for yourself can be a great way to relax, unwind and to be truly present, especially after a long day or weekend. Perth’s iconic scenery and beautiful summer weather create incredible sunsets night after night. If watching the sun go down after a busy day in the office isn't a part of your current daily routine - it needs to be! There are plenty of places to visit and watch the sunset close to The Hales. We've put together some of our favourite places for you to check out. 

1) Lions Lookout, Lesmurdie 

Located at the top of 4km walking trail just a six minute drive from The Hales, Lions Lookout offers beautiful sunset views. The often busy location provides an ideal setting throughout the day too so if you’re looking for a place to head for an early evening walk before catching the sunset, Lions Lookout is the spot for you. Along the trail, there are also BBQ facilities if you want to make it even more special for the family or friends! 

2) Zig Zag Scenic Drive, Gooseberry Hill

A short drive from The Hales, the Zig Zag scenic drive provides views of Perth’s stunning CBD and is a great place to watch the sunset with a blanket and a picnic once you reach the top. A scenic route with one way traffic, its one of Perth’s best keep secrets but it’s certainly not to be missed! There’s plenty of places to park along the route if you catch the sunset if a trip to the top of Gooseberry Hill sounds a little ambitious!

3) Lesmurdie Falls

Located in Forrestfield, Lesmurdie Falls has a number of walking trails, stunning waterfalls and peaks, perfect to watch the sunset on a warm summer evening. Grab a blanket, drinks and take a short drive from The Hales to take advantage of the beautiful nearby scenery. If you don’t fancy the walk after a long day, there’s plenty of spots to catch the view in your car too as the waterfalls provide a stunning backdrop. 

4) Kings Park

A little further from The Hales, Kings Park is a popular place for locals and tourists to head to throughout the day and evening. With a Botanic garden, treetop walks, play areas and the State War Memorial it’s easy to see why this is such a popular destination. Head to the top of the park near to the State War Memorial for a view overlooking the city, the river and take advantage of the breathtaking views of the sunset.
